How LSC Explorer Protects Your Privacy

Our Commitment to Privacy

LSC Explorer is built with a privacy-first architecture. We designed these tools specifically for use in sensitive contexts like vocational rehabilitation and Pre-Employment Transition Services, where protecting your personal information is essential.

The Bottom Line

We do not store your name, email address, or any information that could identify you personally when you use our tools. Your activity results exist only in your browser until you choose to export or email them — and then they're under your control. Newsletter subscriptions are handled separately and are completely optional.

How Your Data Works

When you use an LSC Explorer tool, here's exactly what happens:

While You're Using a Tool
Your selections and answers are stored temporarily in your browser's memory (not on our servers). This allows you to see your progress and results.
When You Export a PDF
The PDF is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. We never see or store this file — it goes straight to you.
When You Email Results
Your results pass through our email service momentarily (encrypted in transit) and are immediately sent to the email address you specify. We do not log, store, or retain any email content.
When You Use AI Features (Optional)
If you use the "Ask AI" feature to explore your results, a summary of your anonymous results (like interest scores) is sent to our AI provider. Your questions and the AI's responses happen in real-time and are not stored by LSC Explorer. If you email your results, any AI conversations will be included.
When You Close the Page
All your activity data is cleared from your browser. There is nothing stored on our servers that connects back to you.

What We Collect vs. What We Never Collect

The anonymous analytics we collect help us understand how the tools are being used and improve them over time. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.

AI-Assisted Exploration Features

Some LSC Explorer tools include optional AI-assisted features that let you ask questions about your results. Here's how these features work and how they protect your privacy:

  • Anonymous results only — Only your results summary (like interest scores) is sent to the AI, never your name, email, or personal details.
  • No conversation logging — LSC Explorer does not store or log your AI conversations or questions in our systems.
  • Real-time processing — Conversations happen live and are not retained after your session ends.
  • Third-party AI service — AI features are powered by Anthropic's Claude. See their Privacy Policy for how they handle data.
  • You control sharing — If you email your results, you decide whether AI conversations are included.

Important: AI responses are generated by a computer program and are for educational exploration only. They may contain errors and do not constitute professional advice. Always discuss important decisions with a qualified counselor.

Educational & Healthcare Privacy

Because LSC Explorer is designed for use in vocational rehabilitation and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) settings, we built these tools with FERPA and HIPAA considerations in mind:

Our Privacy-First Design Means:
  • Nothing to breach — We don't store identifiable data, so there's nothing that could be exposed in a data breach.
  • Nothing to subpoena — We don't retain records that could be requested through legal processes.
  • User control — You decide what to save (PDF) and who receives your results (email).
  • No tracking across sessions — Each time you use a tool is independent; we don't build profiles over time.
  • AI conversations not logged — AI features do not create educational records or stored conversations that could be subject to FERPA.

You decide what happens with your results:

Download as PDF
Save your results to your device to review later or share with a counselor, job coach, or employer.
Email Your Results
Send results directly to yourself or someone supporting your career journey. You must consent before sending, and you choose the recipient. If you used AI features, those conversations will be included.
Use AI Features (Optional)
Ask questions about your results to better understand them. This is completely optional — the tools work fully without AI features.
Simply Close the Page
If you don't want to save anything, just close the browser tab. Your data will be cleared automatically.

Newsletter Subscriptions (Optional)

We offer an optional email newsletter to keep you informed about new tools and updates to LSC Explorer. This service is completely separate from tool usage:

How Newsletter Emails Work
  • You must opt-in: We only add you if you explicitly subscribe
  • Stored separately: Managed in Resend's email platform, not our database
  • Limited purpose: Only for LSC Explorer updates and new tools
  • Easy unsubscribe: One-click removal in every email
  • No tracking: We don't track opens, clicks, or engagement
What We Never Do
  • Connect your email to tool usage data
  • Share or sell your email address
  • Send promotional or marketing content
  • Add you without explicit consent
  • Build profiles from your email activity
Complete Separation of Systems

Newsletter emails are managed through Resend, a separate email service provider. Your subscription email never enters our analytics database and is never associated with any tool usage. Even if you use the same email to send yourself tool results, these remain completely separate actions with no connection between them.
